Driver Killed in NC 24 Crash in Fayetteville on August 24, 2026

Fayetteville, NC (August 24, 2026) — A driver died the evening of Monday, August 24th, 2026, after a collision with a service truck on NC 24 near Downing Road, WRAL reported, citing the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 6:15 p.m. and that the car failed to yield the right of way before being struck by the truck. The car’s driver died at the scene. The truck’s driver was taken to a hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.

At the time of the initial report, it was not known whether anyone else was in the car. The State Highway Patrol is investigating.
