Keith Lamont Scott was shot and killed by CMPD officers while waiting for his child to come home from school.
Charles G. Monnett, Charlotte, NC attorney, and Justin Bamberg, Bamberg, SC attorney, have joined together as co-counsel for the widely publicized police shooting involving Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte, NC on September 20, 2016.
Charles Monnett was also involved in the highly publicized Jonathan Ferrell case in which CMPD Officer Randall Kerrick shot and killed an unarmed African-American man looking for help after his car broke down at night in September 2013. Mr. Monnett is quite surprised that again another African-American man has been shot by a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department officer in which the circumstances surrounding the shooting are questionable.
“Ultimately, I think what the whole community wants is the truth,” Monnett said. “I think that the family will ultimately support its [the video] release. These videos don’t always hold all the answers and everyone needs to reserve judgment until we have all of the facts.”
