Class Action Settlement Alert – Remington Rifle Trigger Defect

We have just obtained information through the Public Justice website that previously sealed documents from Remington showed that the company knew for decades about a trigger defect in the Remington Model 700, the most popular bolt-action rifle in America, and a dozen other models could fire when no one pulled the trigger.

Remington Rifles With Trigger Defects

There are over 7.5 million Remington 700 and other rifles with this trigger defect in gun owners’ homes right now. The following rifles are affected by this defect:

  • Remington 700
  • Remington Seven
  • Remington Sportsman 78
  • Remington Sportsman 673
  • Remington Sportsman 710
  • Remington Sportsman 715
  • Remington Sportsman 770

Remington Rifle Settlement

The proposed settlement (Pollard vs Remington Arms) will offer a free trigger replacement. The deadline to opt-out or object to the action is November 18, 2016. If you or someone you know owns one of the above rifles, we encourage you to stop using them and submit a claim for each rifle.

The class action does not support free trigger replacement for the Remington 600, Remington 660, or Remington XP-100 rifles, which were recalled in 1979. You may still get those triggers repaired for free. Remington has information on their website for these recalled rifles: Remington 600, Remington 660, or Remington XP-100.

CNBC has been covering this case and recently released Remington Under Fire: The Reckoning.
