Charlotte Defective Drug Litigation Attorney

At Charles G. Monnett III & Associates, we have over 20 years experience handling serious injury claims, including serious injury caused by dangerous drugs like Ortho Evra. We intentionally limit the scope of our practice to accidents and defective product claims. We want to provide the injured and their family with the best possible representation. We have excellent credentials and a track record of success.

We also understand that the effects of a serious injury affect your whole family. That is why we dedicate ourselves to understanding your injuries, your prognosis, and the treatment and expenses required to provide you with proper care. We represent clients who have been injured by dangerous prescription drugs, including:

Ortho Evra® Birth Control Patch and Cardiovascular Complications

Ortho Evra® is also known as the birth control patch or simply as "the patch." Ortho Evra® was introduced in 2002 by Ortho McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc. as an alternative to the pill. The advantage of the Ortho Evra® patch was that it provided weekly protection. However, in November 2005, the FDA issued a warning that Ortho Evra significantly increased estrogen in the body, and subsequently may leave individuals more prone to blood clots, heart attacks, and stroke.

Seroquel® and the Risk of Diabetes

Seroquel® is a medication sold by Astra Zeneca which is used to treat manic episodes in bipolar disorder (manic depression) and schizophrenia. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has found that some of the advertising and information about Seroquel® was false and misleading because it minimized the risk of developing hyperglycemia and diabetes, failed to communicate information to patients about neuroleptic malignant syndrome, tardive dsykinesia, and cataracts. Elevated glucose levels (hyperglycemia) and diabetes, sometimes extreme and associated with ketoacidosis, coma, and death have been reported in patients treated with atypical antipsychotics such as Seroquel®.

Risperdal® and Stroke and Diabetes Related Complications

Risperdal®, like Seroquel® is an psychotropic medication used to treat schizophrenia and mania and is manufactured by Johnson and Johnson The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has found that some advertising and information for Risperdal® failed to disclose information about hyperglycemia and diabetes mellitus and minimized the risk of hyperglycemia-related adverse events, such as ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar coma, and death. The drug company was found to have failed to recommend frequent and regular blood glucose monitoring to detect diabetes as soon as possible in patients taking Risperdal®. Some evidence suggests Risperdal® is also associated with an increased risk of stroke

If you have suffered an injury due to using the Ortho Evra® patch, taking Seroquel®, Risperdal®, or any other dangerous drug please consult an experienced defective drug attorney to determine your options and whether you may be entitled to compensation.
